» MLB Money Line Bets

Money line betting in Major League Baseball is the most popular type of bet offered. The idea behind a money line bet is that you are just betting on a team to win the game outright. There is no point spread or line like in other sports, the team just has to win the game. Now when picking a money line winner, the odds will vary by the favorite in the game though. So here's an example:

  • Baltimore Orioles +220 vs. Boston Red Sox -310

As you can see, the Red Sox are heavy favorite here meaning that you won't get as much of a return on your money for betting them. In order to win $100 on the Red Sox, you would have to bet $310. But on the other side, if you think the Orioles can pull off the upset, then you can bet $100 to win $220.

» MLB Run Line Bets

Betting on a run line basically puts a line on the game. Normally the line will bet set at -1.5 or +1.5. The odds that you get on the favorite in run line bets is much better than money line bets. If a team is a heavy favorite though, the odds may still be higher on them, as in the example above. Here's a look at a run line bet using the same situation as above.

  • Baltimore Orioles +1.5 (+120) vs. Boston Red Sox -1.5 (-180)

So in this spot, betting $180 on the Red Sox would pay out $100, but in order to win your bet, the Red Sox would have to win by more than 1 run. On the other side, betting on the Orioles would pay out $120 for $100 bet.

» MLB Over/Under Bets

An over/under bet is a total amount of runs that both teams combined will score during the game. It will mainly be set based on the pitching match-up, as well as how both teams have been hitting the ball lately. The odds are pretty much set on this bet at -110, as the over/under total will move depending on the how the betting goes on it. So this means that if you bet $110, you win $100 if your bet hits. Here's an example of an over/under bet:

  • Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox Over/Under 7.5 (-110)

» MLB 5-Inning Bets

5-Inning bets are done by either betting on the moneyline, or the over/under for the first 5 innings of an MLB game. A lot of sports bettors enjoy this type of bet due to the fact that they don't have to consider a team's bullpen when they make these bets. The over/under will of course be split nearly in half if you were to take a 5-inning bet on an over/under. 5-Inning bets have grown in popularity quite a bit over the past few years.

» MLB Futures Bets

Futures bets are bets that typically involve betting on which team will win the National League, the American League, or the entire World Series. The are done either before the season or early on in the season, and give some excellent odds if you have a feeling on who will win it all. The odds of betting which team will win the World Series for example, are based on the teams finish the year before, as well as any free agent additions they've had to their roster. For example, the New York Yankees may be +700 to win it all before the season, and the Arizona Diamondbacks may be +1500 due to both teams' finishes the year before, and projections for the upcoming year.

» MLB Prop Bets

MLB Prop bets are another type of bet that has grown in popularity over the past few seasons. Prop bets that are offered range anywhere from over/under's on hits by a player, or a team, how many strikeouts a pitcher will get, and also how many runs one team will score as well. A lot of professional sports bettors will bet mainly on prop bets, because there are typically quite a few to look through for every game.

As you can see there are quite a few different betting options when it comes to MLB betting. Major League Baseball betting offers some of the most options for bettors to choose from when it comes to each single game.
