Atlanta Falcons at New York Giants Odds, Prediction, and Pick

Out of all four of the NFL Wild Card match-ups, this one between the Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants is probably the most intriguing. Two teams that head into the playoffs with high hopes, and the one who is on the home side actually has a worse record than the other. New York gets to be at home this weekend because they won the NFC East, while the Atlanta Falcons wound up at 10-6, and looked pretty impressive at times doing it. On top of that, the Giants are the favorites in their home stadium, but not many people really know what to make of this game currently. Both of these two teams have powerful offenses, but the defenses have been the issues for them. The Giants have given up quite a few points at times this season, while the Falcons on the other hand are coming off of a week 16 match-up with the Saints in which their opponent lit up the scoreboard. This game will kick off at 1:00pm EST and has all the makings of a game that could be a classic.

For the Falcons, it's about the strong offense of Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Julio Jones, Michael Turner, and Tony Gonzalez. They'll need their offense to play incredibly well in order to hold off this strong Giants offense. The Giants on the other hand will lean on Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks, and newly found superstar Victor Cruz. If the Giants play in this game like they did last weekend in the first half against the Dallas Cowboys, then they could light up the scoreboard and cause some serious problems for the Falcons defense. Let's take a look at our prediction and pick for Sunday's NFC Wild Card match-up.

What a tough call this game will be. Do you ride with the home team who made it into the big show from a week 17 win over the Cowboys? Or the team who hasn't lost to a team that isn't in these playoffs since week 3? My decision is that I'm going with the team who has shown consistency. I think that the Falcons are a well coached team, and they have an offense that is incredible, but more importantly, they have a defense that will step up when needed. Their defense has some playmakers, and you can bet that Mike Smith will have them ready for this game. I'm going with the Falcons to win it by four on the road.

It's not incredibly shocking that the Giants are -3 at home. I think it really comes down to what I previously mentioned, that many people don't know what to think about this game. Personally though, I think that the Falcons defense will be able to slow the Giants offense, but that the Giants defense won't be able to slow the Falcons offense enough to win it. With that said, I'll be picking the Atlanta Falcons to get the cover of the +3, and I wouldn't have a problem throwing a small bet on them to win the game outright either. This won't be the last that we see of Matty Ice and his Falcons this postseason in my opinion.

  • Atlanta Falcons +3
