Atlanta Falcons vs San Diego Chargers Pick, Prediction, and Odds

Week 3 of the 2012 NFL season is officially underway, and we have an interesting match-up between two teams who are sitting at 2-0 overall and are at the top of their divisions currently. Both teams have showed signs of being incredibly impressive so far this season, and this match-up will be played in San Diego, making it quite the trip for the Atlanta Falcons. This game is going to be a fun one, and kick off is set for 4:05pm EST.

For the San Diego Chargers, they have to be happy to get Ryan Mathews back from his preseason injury. Philip Rivers has also been solid to this point in the season, and the team is going to rely on him being able to keep his turnovers down to win big games this year. Beating a tough team like the Atlanta Falcons definitely qualifies as one of those big games, and I think that the Chargers are going to give a heavy dose of Mathews in order to open up the field a bit more for Rivers, and in turn we could be looking at the Chargers offense hitting on all cylinders.

The Atlanta Falcons have featured a high flying offense with a ton of passing with quarterback Matt Ryan. While they still work the running game, it's pretty obvious that the bulk of their production seems to be coming from wide outs Roddy White and Julio Jones, as well as tight end Tony Gonzalez. Matt Ryan is poised for a big year, and I think that they could give the Chargers defense some serious problems on Sunday.

This game originally had mean leaning towards the Falcons, but this line is a very interesting one. I think that the Chargers are going to see Ryan Mathews put up a big performance and help lead them to an impressive victory. The cross country travel is very tough for any team, and I think that the Falcons may come out a bit lackadaisical on Sunday, so I'm rolling with the Chargers to get a quick lead and be able to hold onto it to win by a touchdown. Also, expect Rivers to take advantage of the Falcons defense that has had a few injuries so far this season in their secondary.
