» 2012 Aussie Open Men's Predictions

Novak Djokovic is the heavy favourite to win the 2012 Aussie Open this year, but I don't think he'll get the job done. Federer looked good in his 1st round match and should be a contender. Nadal looks like he's dealing with an injury right now and I don't think he's going to be able to make a run to the finals this year in the Australian Open. I personally think that Del Potro, Tsonga, Tomic and Ferrer all have good value right now, as you can always hedge these players if they make a deep run in week two.

Tomic struggled early on in his 1st round match against Verdasco, but he pulled through in 5 sets. Tomic is a home crowd favourite and I think he might make a deep run. Ferrer at +6600 is also a solid bet because you can always hedge against the bet if Ferrer makes it deep and has to play a top seeded player. Ferrer is also riding a lot of confidence right now and has proven he can compete with the best players in the world on numerous occasions.

» 2012 Aussie Open Women's Odds

Wozniacki was dealing with an injury, but the world #1 in women's tennis looked good in the 1st round. At the current odds I think she offers the best value to win the Aussie Open this year and earn her 1st grand slam title. Kvitova also has a great shot at winning the tournament this year, but there isn't much value betting on her at +240. Sharapova could make a deep run into the semi-finals or finals this year and betting on her now would be smart because you could hedge the bet in the later rounds.

Azarenka has a great shot at advancing deep into the tournament this year in her bracket. Betting on her to win the event might be a smart bet at the current odds because she should make the semi-finals or finals in my opinion. At the very least you could bet on her now and hedge off of the bet later on in the tournament if she makes it deep like she should.
