Betting on the 2011 FedEx Cup Odd's and Predictions
The FedEx Cup is Golf's version of the NASCAR point race. It is a championship trophy given to one player each year for the PGA Tour. It is set up in the form of a playoff system, and was first awarded back in 2007, making it fairly new to the game still. The currently champion from last year is Jim Furyk. The regular season runs from January until late August, and PGA Tour players have the opportunity to earn points for each event that they play. The point totals for each event vary between 250 to 600 points, depending on different aspects about each tournament. The top 125 points leaders will participate in the playoffs, and players earn 2500 points for winning each playoff tournament. In the end, the top player with the most points ends up taking home the FedEx Cup.
We're here to break down which players that we feel have a good shot at making a push towards the FedEx cup as the season begins to wind down. First lets look at a few players near the top of the leader board in terms of points currently who we think have a shot to take it down, as well as their odds to win the Cup.
- Nick Watney: 1,798
- Odds: +1000
Watney is considered by some to be playing the best golf in the world currently, and he has 2 wins and eight top 10 finishes as well.

- Steve Stricker: 1,741
- Odds: +1200
Stricker is another name who has flown under the radar, but has been on top of his game as well. Stricker has 2 wins and five top 10 finishes to this point.
- K.J. Choi: 1,561
- Odds: +1200
K.J. Choi is one of the veterans of the group, and is near the top of the list of players to have not won a major championship. He has 1 win and six top 10 finishes this year.
- Phil Mickelson: 1,531 points
- Odds: +1000
Mickelson has been tough to figure this year, sometimes he's riding near the top, and other times is no where to be found. He does have an impressive win and a runner up finish, and five top 10's to go with those as well though.
- Bubba Watson: 1,486 points
- Odds: +1500
Watson is a great player, but isn't nearly as consistent as one would hope, which explains his higher odds than his opponents here. He is a great talent though, and has taken down two wins this year.
- Luke Donald: 1,455 points
- Odds: +800
The odds on Luke Donald make sense after you do a bit of research. He has played fewer events than every other player in the top 15, and has eight top 10 finishes, as well as one win. Donald is definitely the favorite.

It'll be an interesting ride to the finish, but the way that Luke Donald is playing right now, he'll be tough to beat. He's on top of his game and has been nearly dominate when he's played events. He'll be a favorite going into the FedEx Cup final, and I'm picking Luke Donald to take down the tournament in the end.
