2011 AFC South Division Winner Odds, Prediction, Pick

While the NFL lockout has finally ended, we head into an NFL season that has quite a few question marks, as well as some teams who look to make moves toward the top of their division. This is exactly the case with the AFC South. The Indianapolis Colts have been the juggernaut in the AFC South lately, mainly thanks to the strong play of Peyton Manning. But as we head into the 2011 NFL season, the Colts are left with quite a few question marks, one of which is the health of Manning himself. While I think Manning will be fine heading into the season, the three teams behind the Colts have upgraded their rosters and at least two of them look to be on the rise. The Titans have added quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to run their offense, while the Texans have made some great defensive moves in the offseason, and also seem to have found their running back of the future in Arian Foster. The Jaguars still have some work to do, but have one of the best running backs in the NFL in Maurice Jones-Drew. All of these sets up for what should be one of the most exciting NFL division races this year. We're going to take a look at the odds for all four teams to win the AFC South, as well as let you know which team we think will take down the division.

While the Colts head into the season as the early favorites in the AFC South, you can't sleep on the other three teams. The Jaguars finished last year with an 8-8 record, surprising everyone. While the Texans and Titans were both 6-10, but it was especially the Texans who played better than their 6-10 record. This year should turn into a two team race though for the top of the AFC South, as the Colts look to battle for another division title, and the Texans have upgraded their defense quite a bit, and should be ready to compete to be at the top. I think the Texans end up leading the pack at the end of the year, with the Colts in a close second.

  • Houston Texans: 10-6
  • Indianapolis Colts: 9-7
  • Tennessee Titans: 7-9
  • Jacksonville Jaguars: 6-10

While the Colts have seemingly had a hold on the top of this division as of late, thanks to Peyton Manning; I see the Texans finally out-doing the Colts this year. Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson, and Arian Foster make a strong three-headed monster in Houston, and they should be able to take down the AFC South title. I'm picking the Houston Texans to win the AFC South at +180.

  • Pick: Houston Texans +180
