San Diego Chargers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Week 7 NFL Pick
The story of the season so far for the San Diego Chargers has to be the resurgence of Philip Rivers and his ability to be the catalyst that drives this team towards success. Although Rivers will get most of the headlines, I'm not sure anyone is enjoying Rivers' success as much as Runningback Ryan Matthews. Rivers' ability so far this season to put the fear into other teams with his passing abilities has opened up holes for the hard-running Matthews.

In fact, Matthews hasn't even needed holes to run through so far, as he running through people to get positive yardage. He was a very big factor in last week's 19-9 win over the Colts, as he ran for 102 yards and kept the Colt's defence off balance when their game plan was clearly to stop Rivers. Jacksonville's 31st ranked defence is going to have a very difficult time stopping what is now a two-headed monster in the Charger's offense. The Charger's are the league's 2nd ranked pass offense on the road this season, and Matthew's could be in for another big day as the lowly Jags rank 29th in home rushing defence so far this season.
It is very difficult to find anything noteworthy on the Jaguars offensive side of the football. Chad Henne is completing just 58% of his pass attempts (still better than Blaine Gabbert), and their franchise Runningback, Maurice Jones-Drew, is averaging just 3 yards a carry so far and has found the end zone just twice in 6 losses to start the season. The main point behind this pick is that besides their game against the also lowly Oakland Raiders, the Jags have yet to come close to keeping a game within 9 points.
My Pick - CHARGERS -9 (+110) 5 Dimes
In fact, they have gotten thumped by everyone who has rolled into Grass of Everbank Field this season. Jacksonville is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games at home, and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. Furthermore, the Chargers are 4-1-1 ATS in both their last 6 games overall and last 6 games on the road. Take the Chargers this Sunday to be the latest team to wallop the Jaguars.
