Clemson Tigers vs Maryland Terrapins, Odds, Prediction, and Pick
When you look at the match-up between the Clemson Tigers and the Maryland Terrapins, it looks like a bit of a mismatch on paper. Maryland is coming off of a 2010 campaign in which they shocked the entire Atlantic Coast Conference and nearly won the Atlantic Division. This year, the Terrapins are sitting at 2-3 and are coming off of a tough road loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Clemson on the other hand, has been one of the most shocking teams in college football THIS year, and is currently sitting at 6-0, and is 3-0 in conference. On top of that, they are ranked 8th in the country, and look like a solid all around team. The Tigers now head on the road and go to take on the Terrapins.
Clemson has been led by quarterback Tajh Boyd, who has thrown 15 touchdowns, and only two interceptions; and also by wide out Sammy Watkins, who has 623 receiving yards, and 6 receiving touchdowns. Out of the Tigers' last four games, they have beaten three top 25 teams, in the Virginia Tech Hokies (23-3), Florida State Seminoles (35-30), and the Auburn Tigers (38-24). Clemson looks like they are the team to beat in the ACC this year, and should give fits to the rest of the league.
The Terrapins are a tough team to figure out though. Obviously no team strives to be 2-3, but they started off with a nice win against the Miami Hurricanes; and then went on to lose to Temple 38-7, and also two ranked teams in West Virginia and Georgia Tech. Quarterback Danny O'Brien has struggled this year, and has thrown just 4 touchdowns to his 6 interceptions.

What is there to say about how the Clemson Tigers have played this year? They came into the season with quite a few question marks, but they've excelled across the board. Tajh Boyd was the biggest question mark, and he's led this team to a spot where they look ready to get to the promised land. Some people may have concerns about this team being on the road; but it really won't matter. I like the Tigers to take this one down by two touchdowns.

This game being set as -7 for the Clemson is about right I think, and I think they'd be much heavier favorites at home though. Clemson's offense seems almost unstoppable, and I don't see this Maryland defense being able to slow them down in any way. I think that Maryland will keep it close in the first half, but the second half will be all Clemson Tigers. I'm picking the Clemson Tigers to win and cover here.
