Indianapolis Colts vs. Houston Texans Week 9 NFL Pick
Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts travel to Houston for the Sunday Nighter this week to take on the lowly Houston Texans. This Texans team could very possibly be the biggest disappointment in the NFL this season. Beside's their 2-5 record so far this season, the team has had to deal with injuries to almost all of their top players.

Matt Schaub was injured 2 weeks ago, and was actually cheered as he went off the field with an injury at home, Brian Cushing tore up his knee again last week and will miss the remainder of the season, and although he has been pretty good this year, Arian Foster has been banged up here and there this season as well. Wade Phillips does have the Texans' defence playing pretty well this season as they rank 1st in the NFL in home pass defence, however they still give up almost 30 points per game.
On the other sideline, the Colts defence has been a pleasant surprise in 2013. Their road pass defence surrenders just 177 yards per game, and their overall defence this season surrenders just 19 points per game. Trent Richardson could be in for a big game Sunday night as Houston's home rushing defence ranks 29th in the NFL, giving up over 130 yards per game on the ground, while the Colts road rushing ranks 5th in the NFL at around 138 yards per game on the ground.
My Pick - COLTS -2.5 (-115) 5 Dimes
The bottom line here is the Texans have to find a way to put more points on the scoreboard. They rank 30th in the NFL in points scored per game at just over 17 points a game, and they haven't scored more than 20 points in any of their last 5 games, all losses. Their point totals from those last 5 games? 16, 13, 3, 20, and 9. For the Colts, their last 5 games point totals go like this: 39, 9, 34, 37, and 27. Besides the 19-9 loss 2 weeks ago in San Diego, this Colts team has been awfully impressive this season.
They handed both the Broncos and Seahawks their only losses on the year, and actually managed to score 34 points on extremely difficult Seahawks defence. The Texans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games at home, and the Colts are 18-4 straight up in their last 22 games overall against the Texans. With a number like 2.5, I feel like is a solid pick that pits two teams against each other that are headed in opposite directions. Take the Colts Sunday night to cover a small spread against a sub-par Texans squad.
