Detroit Lions vs Philadelphia Eagles Pick, Prediction, and Odds

While the Detroit Lions are 1-3 and the Philadelphia Eagles are 3-2, their records haven't exactly told the whole story of how these two teams have played thus far. For starters, the Philadelphia Eagles and quarterback Michael Vick have struggled a bit in terms of protecting the football, but still have managed to pull out some very close wins to get those three W's. The Lions on the other hand have lost three games straight, but all three were all by less than eight points, and were games that they definitely could have won. I think that this game is going to be much closer than many people are expecting, and it's going to be a fun one that kicks off at 1:00pm EST in Philadelphia.

The Lions are going to need to focus on getting their running game going a bit so that they can open up the passing lanes for Matthew Stafford. The Stafford and Calvin Johnson connection is one of the biggest in the NFL, and if Mikel Leshoure is able to open things up for them then they could end up lighting up the scoreboard early and often. I'll have my eyes on this offense, but most importantly the defense is going to need to cause some turnovers.

As previously mentioned for the Eagles, it's about avoiding those turnovers. If they can do that then they will be on their way to a potential 4-2 start and be in a good spot in the NFC East. They Eagles will probably continue to hand the ball to LeSean McCoy more and more as the season rolls on, and I think if they can take some of the pressure off of Vick by doing this then it will be a huge help for the team.

Going into Philadelphia to play is always tough, but the Lions are in a huge game here. Falling to 1-4 isn't an easy task to come back from, and I think that the Lions are going to show up in a big way. The Eagles have some glaring issues that need to be taken care of, and I don't think it will be fixed this week against the Lions. Detroit's offense hasn't been on point, and I think that coming off of the bye week should help fix this. They had time to work things out and fix what needed to be fixed. Many teams respond differently coming off of bye weeks, but expect Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford to put up some points on Sunday and get the upset win.
