Houston Texans vs Cincinnati Bengals Odds, Prediction, and Pick

The Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals are battling for the playoffs right now, and this game could go a long way towards the final standings at the end of the year. The Texans currently hold the top spot in the AFC South, but are trailed by a team in the Tennessee Titans, who refuse to give the division to this depleted Texans team. Houston is 9-3 overall and is having their best season in franchise history to this point. It hasn't all been easy for the team though, as the Texans have lost defensive end Mario Williams, and quarterback Matt Schaub to season ending injuries. They also have missed wide out Andre Johnson for quite a few games this year, and he recently re-injured his hamstring which will leave him out until at least the end of the regular season. To top it off, the Texans even lost back-up quarterback Matt Leinart, so they are now on to their third stringer, rookie TJ Yates. This team definitely has their work cut out for them if they want to remain a top seed in the playoffs. Their game won't be easy this week either though, as they are up against a Bengals team who has surprised many fans with their strong play.

The Bengals are 7-5 overall, and are being led by two rookies in quarterback Andy Dalton and wide out AJ Green. Also, running back Cedric Benson is having a strong year, and this team is sitting in the final wild card spot for the playoffs right now. They'll need to get back on the winning track if they want to sneak in though, and this week's game against Houston will be crucial for their chances. This game will kickoff at 1:00pm EST and will be played in Cincinnati.

No one thought that the Texans would be able to keep moving forward after losing both their starting quarterback and back up quarterback, but quarterback TJ Yates played strong last week and lead his team to an upset win over the Atlanta Falcons. Can Yates do it again, and this time on the road? I think that Yates will play solid, but that Cincinnati will get the job done in a game that they must win in my opinion, in order to remain in seriously playoff talks. I like Cincinnati to win by a touchdown, thanks to a strong game from Dalton.

Small line here for the home team, and I think it has a bit to do with the fact that many people aren't sure what to expect from this Texans team right now. I do think the Texans are still a solid team, and they are definitely well coached and have a very strong defense; but I like the Bengals in large part due to the fact that they are at home. Maybe if Houston was at home maybe it would be a different story, but the Bengals are a good team all around, and they'll understand the situation that they are in heading into this game. I'm picking the Cincinnati Bengals to not only win, but also to cover the -3 in this week 14 NFL betting match-up.
