Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars Odds, Prediction, and Pick

In one of this week's more interesting match-ups in the NFL, we have the Houston Texans heading on the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Texans are fresh off of their bye week, and are up against a Jaguars team who is fresh off of a heartbreaking loss to the Cleveland Browns this past weekend. These two have complete opposite records currently, as the Jaguars are sitting at 3-7 and the Texans are 7-3 overall. What's even more interesting about this match-up is that both teams have been tough to figure out to this point. The Jaguars beat the Titans and the Ravens, but in between those two they lost five games in a row. The Texans on the other hand were 3-3 earlier in the year, and were one of the biggest question marks out there. Currently though, they have won four games in a row, and what makes that even more impressive is the fact that they lost defensive end Mario Williams for the year to injury. These two teams also met earlier in the year, which resulted in a 24-14 win for the Texans in Houston.

This game will be played in Jacksonville, and it kicks off at 1:00pm EST on Sunday. The interesting match-up between these two will definitely be the rushing games of both teams, as they both have premier running backs in the NFL in Arian Foster of Houston, and Maurice Jones-Drew of Jacksonville. The thing that will really draw attention to this game is the fact that the Texans recently lost their starting quarterback Matt Schaub to injury, and will insert back-up Matt Leinart into the starting lineup.

Many people feel that the Texans are going to take many steps backwards with Leinart at quarterback. While he isn't on the same level as Schaub, I think there is a very good chance for him to shine in this offense in Houston. He had a tough time in Arizona, in which he was asked to throw the deep ball quite often; but I see him doing much better overall where he's at now. On top of that though, Houston's defense has been an incredible amount better than they were last year, and they still have the one-two punch at running back of Foster and Ben Tate. I like the Texans to win on the road and show that this team can still be a serious playoff team.

This Jaguars team has not looked very strong this year, as they are mainly in a rebuilding phase. I think that the Texans defense will make all the difference in the world against the rookie quarterback in Blaine Gabbert, and that Houston is going to be able to handle the Jaguars fairly easily thanks to a second half push. I'm picking the Houston Texans to get the win and the cover here.
