Houston Texans vs Miami Dolphins, Odds, Prediction, Pick

As we wrap up a very interesting week 1 of the 2011 NFL season, we're going to take a look at some of the interesting week 2 match-ups in the NFL. We kick it off with a match-up between the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins, both of which are looking to turn the corner in 2011 and make pushes to get back into the 2011 NFL Playoffs. The Texans kicked off their season with a dominating win over their division rivals, the Indianapolis Colts, 34-7. The Dolphins on the other hand were matched up against the Super Bowl favorite New England Patriots, and were outdone 38-24 in the end. Both teams showed some strong play, but one team stuck out a bit more than the other to me.

The Texans were led by impressive performances from running back Ben Tate, with 116 yards and 1 touchdown, and wide out Andre Johnson who pulled in 7 catches for 95 yards and one touchdown. The defense also looked much improved under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, and if the Texans continue to play this way; they could shock quite a few people in the postseason this year. The Dolphins on the other hand were led by Chad Henne, who tossed for 416 yards, and two touchdowns, and also had 59 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. We're going to take a look at the odds and sports betting line for this week 2 match-up, and also give a prediction and pick on the game.

The Texans looked incredibly good in week 1, and while it was against the Colts without Peyton Manning; they still dominated the game. The Texans have tons of talent on both sides of the ball this season, and I think they'll be able to take down the Dolphins in week 2. I think that the three headed monster of Schaub, Andre Johnson, and Arian Foster (or Ben Tate), will knock off the Fins' by a touchdown.

This one should start similar to how the Dolphins vs. Patriots game did with the Dolphins hanging around thanks to the home crowd and very few mistakes made by them. In the end though, I think the Texans new look defense will come up with some big plays, and their offense will be too much overall for the Dolphins. I'm picking the Houston Texans to win and cover the -3.

  • Pick: Houston Texans -3
