Kansas City Chiefs vs Chicago Bears Odds, Prediction, and Pick

This weekend we have a match-up that's actually quite interesting. While both of these two teams above are playing with their back-up quarterbacks right now, both of them are still actually involved in the NFL Playoff picture. The Chicago Bears are actually in the thick of it all, and definitely need to pick up every win that they possibly can with the hopes of getting into the playoffs and getting quarterback Jay Cutler back. The Chiefs aren't sitting in quite as good of shape as the Bears are though, since the Bears are 7-4 overall, and the Chiefs are just the opposite at 4-7. The Chiefs have lost a few close ones though, and this includes last week's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This team has suffered such a large number of injuries that it's hard to believe that they have four wins. To this point, the Chiefs have lost starting running back Jamaal Charles, starting quarterback Matt Cassel, starting Safety Eric Berry, and starting tight end Tony Moeaki, and that is just for starters! Fortunately for the Chiefs, they were able to pick up quarterback Kyle Orton on waivers, and he should get the start this week against the Bears team who actually traded him a few years back.

The Bears were up and down to start the year, but hit fire at the right time and were looking like they'd be a tough team to beat come playoff time. That was all before they lost Jay Cutler at least until the playoffs with a broken finger on his throwing hand, and now they'll need some strong team play in order to hold on to that playoff spot. This game will kick off at 1:00pm EST, and is going to be played in Chicago, which definitely gives them an edge. The Chiefs are a tough home team, but have struggled a bit on the road, and they'll need their defense to play top notch this weekend.

I honestly think this game is going to be much closer than everyone is anticipating. While the Bears have a better all around team than the Chiefs do, the Chiefs defense looked to be hitting on all cylinders last week against a strong team in the Steelers. While they are short handed, the addition of Kyle Orton will be big time. If you think that Orton doesn't remember the fact that the Bears traded him away a few years back, then I'd bet that you're wrong. Orton will have a good game with his new offense, but I don't think it'll be enough to pull off a huge road upset against this Bears defense. The Bears secondary hasn't been great, but their defensive line and linebackers have been strong. It'll be a close one, but I'm going with the Bears to squeak out the win.

I couldn't believe that this line was so high when it came out, and it actually started out around +9 for the Chiefs! Kansas City is not a playoff team, but without Jay Cutler, the Bears aren't one either. This game is going to be a fight, but in the end the Bears will prevail thanks to not only their linebacker's and d-line, but also Matt Forte. I see Forte stepping up and having a big day, but he won't blow out the Chiefs by himself, so it'll be close. I'm picking the Kansas City Chiefs to cover the +7.5 here, but not quite pull out the win in the end.
