NCAA Elite 8 Betting: Kansas Jayhawks vs North Carolina Tar Heels Pick, Prediction, and Odds
On Sunday late afternoon, March 25th 2012, two of the most well-known college basketball programs in all of the nation will meet in a huge Elite 8 match-up. This will be the North Carolina Tar Heels against the Kansas Jayhawks, who had close, but solid wins in the Sweet 16. Both teams were up against underdog teams, as the Jayhawks were up against the 11th seeded North Carolina State Wolfpack, and the Tar Heels were up against the 13th seeded Ohio Bobcats. The Bobcats took the Tar Heels into overtime but came up just short, while the Jayhawks won it by three against the Pack when they were unable to hit a three at the buzzer to tie it up. Now both teams move on to the next round and tip off is set for Sunday at 5:05pm. This is the final for the Midwest region that features the Heels as the one seed and the Jayhawks as the two seed. The winner will get to represent the Midwest in the Final Four next weekend!

One important thing to watch out for is the injury to Kendall Marshall's wrist. If the Tar Heels point guard is unable to go then they could be in some serious trouble, and it look as of now that he won't be able to run the point for the Heels. The Jayhawks are going to rely heavily on their big man Thomas Robinson who's an All American, as well as Tyshawn Taylor, the strong guard for the team. They'll have their work cut out for them regardless, because these are two of the most well-coached teams in college hoops right now thanks to Roy Williams and Bill Self.

It's a tough spot here because the Tar Heels really didn't look as strong in the Sweet 16 without Marshall than they did throughout the beginning of the tournament. If Marshall can't go (which he most likely won't be), then I'm going to be rolling with the Jayhawks. This team seems to find a way to get it done regardless of what is thrown in front of them, and this is why I think they'll knock off the Heels. Watch out for Robinson in this huge game, because I think he'll put up another double double once again, and he'll lead the Jayhawks to the Final Four.

It is absolutely going to be a close game, but I think that the Jayhawks not only pull out the win but are also able to get the cover as well. I like the fact that this line is so low, and the it just seems like things have been bouncing the right way for Kansas this year after two back to back wins which they had to fight hard to get. Their first was against Purdue, while the second was against the NC State Wolfpack. Kansas is going to step it up and get the job done, I'm picking the Kansas Jayhawks to cover.
Pick: Kansas Jayhawks -2
