Netherlands vs Portugal, Euro 2012 Pick, Prediction and Odds
Netherlands and Portugal will meet in a virtual pre-quarterfinal in Metalist Stadium, Khakriv, Ukraine on Sunday, March 17th, 2012. Portugal needs a win to qualify to final eight and to knock Holland out. Holland needs much more than a win if they want to see themselves in next round. In order to qualify, Men in orange need to beat Portugal side by a considerable margin and hope German side to prevail over Denmark. Both Netherlands and Portugal have looked below par as they both lost to in-form Germany. Portugal will be hoping for Christiano Ronaldo to fire, who has not able to repeat his club success for his country in Euro 2012 so far. Van Persie looked to get back into some form after he scored against Germany in second half, which might prove to be crucial if Netherlands run into a tie with Denmark and Portugal.

Netherlands manager is being criticized for his poor tactics of keeping Huntellar and Van der Vaart on the substitutes bench for too long. As a result, we might see both of them in the starting XI in this last league game. Portugal won against Danes but their win wasn't as convincing they'd have hoped. They allowed Denmark to come back after being in a very comfortable position with a score line of two goals to none. Netherlands would have to play attacking football if they want to keep their chances alive. Portugal has 'Head to Head' records in their favor but these records can be pretty deceptive sometimes. In Euro 2012, Netherlands has looked a good side but has failed to capitalize on the opportunities created in and around the box. Overall, both sides look well balanced and a thrilling contest is expected.

Netherlands has looked little impressive but has failed to score. On the other hand, Portugal didn't look in best of the form, but has still managed to get into a rather comfortable position in so called 'Group of Death'. Portugal looks over dependent on Ronaldo and he has failed to deliver. Dutch team has played well under pressure in recent past and must win situations. In addition to that, Netherlands look to be a better side on paper and on field, considering their current form. I'll place my money on Netherlands for this match.

Netherlands looked to pick up some lost form against Germany in the second half of that match. They look to be better side throughout and that's what tempts me to choose Netherlands as more likely to win this game.
