Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs South Florida Bulls Odds, Prediction, and Pick
Week one of the college football season features a match-up between Notre Dame and South Florida. Both teams enter 2011 hoping to build on strong finishes from the end of the 2010 season. One of the major storylines heading into the 2011 college football season is Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish haven't seen very much success in recent memory but ended 2010 winning four games in a row including a bowl victory over Miami. Notre Dame has high expectations because they are returning very talented players on offense as well many starters on the defensive side of the ball. Second year coach Brian Kelly has given the Notre Dame faithful a sense of stability and hope that it hasn't felt in a long time. The Irish have a chance to be a very balanced and talented team as long as they can stay healthy.

As for the South Florida Bulls, their 2010 season featured many close games. The last seven games the Bulls played were decided by eight points or less and they could have easily lost every one of those games. The Bulls did finish their season a strong note though by defeating Clemson in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. South Florida finished 8-5 in 2010 but they aren't returning many starters on the offensive side of the ball and could very well struggle in 2011.

This could most certainly be Notre Dame's season to return to glory. Playing South Florida should be a good test to see where the team stands entering 2011. Notre Dame hasn't announced a starting quarterback yet but both Dayne Crist and Tommy Rees are talented. Either quarterback can start and be successful because of the talent surrounding them, including wide receivers Michael Floyd and Theo Riddick. South Florida has talent, but I don't see it being enough to hang with the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame is a 10-point favorite and it could easily be more. If Notre Dame stays healthy this season, they should be able to make a BCS bowl game. This team is talented on both sides of the ball and should be able to thrive in Brian Kelly's second season. I don't see this game being very close; I'm picking the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
- Pick: Notre Dame Fighting Irish -10
