Pittsburgh Steelers vs Denver Broncos Odds, Prediction, and Pick
NFL Wild Card weekend will have quite an interesting Sunday late afternoon match-up. The Pittsburgh Steelers may have been one of the best teams in the AFC this season, but they find themselves coming in as a Wild Card team, since the Baltimore Ravens beat them out for the division. So what does all mean? Well, for starters it means that the Steelers are on the round on the opening weekend, and they'll be against a team in the Denver Broncos who has many people scratching their heads. The Broncos started the Tim Tebow era incredibly hot by winning six games straight at one point, but completely took a 180 to end the season as they lost three games in a row and just BARELY backed into the playoffs. While they did win the AFC West, we have now seen that this division is one of the weakest in the NFL, and the Broncos are going to absolutely have their work cut out for them, regardless of if they are at home or on the road.

The Broncos were 8-8, which is nothing to turn your nose at up, but how the finished the year was the real story. Tim Tebow was incredibly impressive at times, but his last two games were the worst of the season, and if he wants to help lead his team to any type of postseason success, he'll need to be much better than he has been. Tebow definitely has the leadership ability, but the issue at hand is that he can't complete passes when it matters most, and also can't get his team in the endzone, which means that they haven't been putting very many points up on the board.
As far as the Steelers go, they finished with a 12-4 record, which was just as good as the Ravens, but they lost to them twice during the regular season. This leaves the Steelers as the first Wild Card team, but with a tough road to the Super Bowl ahead of them. I expect the Steelers defense to throw out all kinds of different looks at Tim Tebow, but it will be interesting to see if John Fox throws some different things at that Steelers defense. Pittsburgh is absolutely one of the favorites to make a run in these playoffs, even as the fourth seed in the AFC.

It's tough to pick the Denver Broncos to pull off the win here, regardless of if they are the home team or not. The Broncos lost three games in a row to end the season, and they were essentially "must win" games for the team, and now they are in one of the biggest must wins of them all, the first round of the NFL playoffs. I think that Ben Roethlisberger and his playoff experience make all the difference, and that the Steelers get the win by a touchdown on the road. Also, expect a big game from one of the fastest wide outs in the NFL in Mike Wallace on Sunday as well.

The Steelers get the edge in the game because they are simply a better team overall. On the other side of things though, the Broncos get to play this one at home, and their home crowd is going to be all out for Tim Tebow and company. On top of that, I expect Tebow to control the game well, and avoid turning the ball over. The team is going to ride emotions and keep this one close, regardless of if it is the offense or the defense who gets it done. Unfortunately, they'll come up short against Roethlisberger and the Steelers tough defense, but they will still cover this big spread. I'm picking the Denver Broncos to cover the +9 spread at home.
