San Francisco 49ers vs Cincinnati Bengals, Odds, Prediction, Pick

In one of the more interesting week 3 NFL match-up's, you'll find two teams who were at the bottom of the NFL during the 2010 season in the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals. The 49ers are coming off a very tough home loss to the Dallas Cowboys, in which the 49ers were up for most of the game, but the Cowboys knocked them off in overtime. The Bengals on the other hand have shocked a few people so far this season, as they knocked off the Cleveland Browns on the road in week 1, and lost to the Denver Broncos in a tight one by 2 points on the road. The 49ers have looked much improved under new head coach Jim Harbaugh, and they have played very well on both sides of the ball heading into week 3. The Bengals are led by a rookie quarterback in Andy Dalton, who has played much better than most people have expected to this point.

The Bengals were widely expected to be one of the bottom teams in the NFL in 2011, but have shown that they have quite a bit of young talent, and may not need as long as was originally expected to rebound after losing quarterback Carson Palmer to retirement. The 49ers are on the other hand are still one of the favorites to win a weak NFC West division, that featured a playoff team in 2010 who finished with a 7-9 record, in the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams will live and die by their quarterbacks in 2011, and I think the same could be true about this week 3 match-up.

The 49ers looked incredibly impressive throughout the first half of their match-up against the Cowboys, but they fell apart in the second half and lost a close one. I think that the Cowboys are a much better team all around than the Bengals, and the 49ers only lost by 3 to Dallas. I would be shocked to see the 49ers not rebound, as I think that head coach Jim Harbaugh will get his team well prepared as they head into Cincinnati. I like the 49ers to take this one down by a touchdown with a strong second half.

The Bengals offense will face some struggles against a 49ers defense who is better than any team that they have played to this point. The 49ers and Bengals both have some questions at the quarterback position, but I think that the experience of Alex Smith will make the difference late in the game. I'm picking the San Francisco 49ers to win the game, and pull off the upset. I'm not only taking the 49ers +3, but also taking them on the moneyline as well with the better odds.
