San Francisco 49ers vs Washington Redskins Odds, Prediction, and Pick
To kick off our week 9 NFL betting action, we take a look at a match-up between two teams who are going in complete opposite directions right now. If someone had said that the San Francisco 49ers would be sitting at 6-1 at this point in the season, I would have told you that something just wasn't right. But the Niners' have looked like one of the NFL's most impressive teams to this point, and they are definitely one of the NFL's most surprising teams. The Washington Redskins on the other hand, started off with a nice 2-0 record, but are now sitting at 3-4 and have fallen to the bottom of the NFC East. Both teams have had moments of brilliance, and moments of disaster; but it looks like the 49ers are sure thing to head straight to the playoffs against a weak division, and that the Redskins are likely to be left out as they are against a division that is on the rise.

That brings us to this match-up between NFC teams, as the 49ers will head on the road to match-up with the Redskins. The 49ers are fresh off of a 20-10 home win (and cover) against the Cleveland Browns. The Redskins on the other hand were just on the wrong side of beat down, as they lost to the Buffalo Bills 23-0. Their offense struggled quite a bit, but even worse was that their offensive line was unable to block for quarterback John Beck. Can the Redskins get it sorted out by next week's match-up against the hungry San Francisco defense? The game kicks off at 1:00pm EST on Sunday.

It's a tale of two teams here. The 49ers look incredibly good, are riding a wave of adrenaline and emotion, and are now going up against a team who seems to have lost all of their confidence. Mike Shanahan will need to get this teams' confidence back by this weekend, or else it's going to be a long day for his team. Unfortunately for Washington fans, I don't think that they will be able to hold up against this strong 49ers defense, and I don't think their defense will do enough to stop Frank Gore. I'm taking the 49ers to win on the road by ten.

Sure, the Niners are on the road, and the Redskins will have the home crowd to help out here. But the 49ers have proven that they are just an all around better team right now than the Redskins are. I'd be shocked if the Redskins are able to keep this game within a touchdown, so I know where my action is going. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has this San Francisco team playing at the level that all of their fans and sports bettors knew they were capable of playing at. I'm picking the San Francisco 49ers on the road in rain, sleet, or snow at -3.5.
San Francisco 49ers -3.5
