South Africa vs New Zealand First Test Pick, Prediction, and Odds
After a see-saw series of T20 and a one-sided ODI series, South Africa and New Zealand will play against each other again on 7th March in First Test Match of the series. This test match at Dunedin is scheduled to be played at 9:30pm GMT time zone. T20 series was thrilling as all the matches were close whereas in ODIs, South Africa outplayed New Zealand in all departments. If we take a look at Test rankings, South Africa is sitting comfortably at number two while New Zealand is second from the bottom. South Africa might look a very good side if we go by rankings but it would still be difficult to beat New Zealand in their own backyard. Ross Taylor comes back to the Test Squad after impressing selectors and medical staff with his fitness and will lead the team in first Test. Dean Brownlie will miss the first Test as he hasn't recovered from finger injury. Both teams played reasonably well in their previous test series.

New Zealand beat Zimbabwe in both home and away series while South Africa managed to draw the two match home series against Australia. Both teams are in good form but South Africa look a better side on paper as they have more experience while return of Ross Taylor to the squad will make them a much better side than they were in ODI series. Let's see how the two teams fair against each other in the first Test of Wednesday.

Can World's number nine beat world number two? New Zealand beating South Africa might sound astonishing for cricket followers but it is very much possible. New Zealand have got some firepower in both bowling and batting department with players like Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill and their captain Ross Taylor is back as well. South Africa also has in form and well experienced players like Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers. Toss will definitely play a crucial role as batting might be the key win the game. Draw is also possible but very less likely. In my opinion, South Africa will win this first Test quite comfortably.
» Man of the Match Prediction
Both teams have some very good bowlers who can destruct any batting lineup and some free scoring and inform batsmen. Taking current form and stats into consideration, Hashim Amla may win the Man of the Match award.
