Stanford Cardinal vs Duke Blue Devils Odds, Prediction, and Pick
As we head into the second week of the 2011 college football season, we have two teams who are matched up in a game that drew our attention. The Stanford Cardinal are coming off of a 57-3 route of San Jose State, and looked completely prepared to make their 2011 BCS National Championship run. They will head to Durham, North Carolina in week 2 to take on a Duke Blue Devils team who were just knocked off by the Richmond Spiders, who are a part of the Football Championship Subdivision. While Richmond is one of the top teams in the FCS, Duke in general has failed to do much in recent years in terms of football success; and 2011 is looking to be the same story. While Stanford does have to travel to Duke for this early season match-up, they are still the seventh ranked team in the country, and have one of the best quarterbacks in college football leading their team in Heisman candidate Andrew Luck. This game will kick off at 3:30pm EST on Saturday, September 10th.

This is one of those games where people want to feel that the home team can put up a fight against the much stronger road team. If you take a look back to the 2010 season, you'll notice that Duke was in a similar situation in week 3, when the Alabama Crimson Tide traveled to Durham and took out the Blue Devils 62-13. While this game may not end up quite that bad, I see Andrew Luck having his way with the Blue Devils' defense, and heading back to Stanford with another big win.

This game would be nearly impossible to put a line on if Stanford was the home team, and I think that the line on this game isn't nearly as high as it should be. Stanford is one of the best teams in the country, and they are a serious national title contender in 2011. As we saw last year when Duke was unable to hold their own against Alabama, the Blue Devils aren't nearly the same type of Atlantic Coast Conference powerhouse in football as they are in basketball. I see Stanford coming out strong, and keeping their foot on the gas throughout. I'm picking the Stanford Cardinal to cover here.
