UFC 134 Odds & Predictions
UFC 134 is scheduled for August 27th 2011 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The last UFC pay-per-view event was disappointing other than a few good knockouts in some of the fights. The UFC has been to Brazil in the past, but this time around I expect the main card to be excellent. There are plenty of Brazilians on the card for UFC 134 including Anderson Silva, who will be fighting Yushin Okami in the main event this Saturday.

» UFC 134 Main Event - Anderson Silva vs. Yushin Okami
- Anderson "The Spider" Silva -440
- Yushin "Thunder" Okami +350
Anderson Silva will be fighting Yushin Okami for the Middleweight Championship in the main event at UFC 134. Silva and Okami fought once before at ROTR8 in 2006. Silva was disqualified from the fight for an illegal kick, but he was winning the fight the entire time and he's only gotten better since that fight. Anderson will be looking for revenge in his home country at UFC 134 this weekend and I have a feeling that he's going to destroy the Japanese fighter.
Yushin Okami isn't a slouch in the cage by any stretch of the imagination, but he isn't on Silva's level either. Okami is on a 3-fight win streak after beating Marquardt, Munoz and Linhares. In a couple of Silva's recent fights he has looked sluggish, but I don't mind throwing Silva on all of my parlays this weekend. The fact that Silva is fighting in Brazil against the 1 fighter that he actually dislikes and wants to beat is enough for me to bet him at UFC 134.

» UFC 134 Main Card - Mauricio Rua vs. Forrest Griffin
- Mauricio "Shogun" Rua -220
- Forrest Griffin +180
Mauricio Rua and Forrest Griffin fought back in 2007 and Griffin managed to pull off the upset by submitting Rua. I really don't think that Griffin will be able to pull off another upset. Rua is trying to bounce back after losing to Jon Jones earlier in the year and he's going to want to prove that he has what it takes for another run at the title. Griffin hasn't fought much lately, but he does have a win over Ortiz in 2009 and a win over Franklin earlier this year. I think his days at the top of the division are over and I'm betting on Shogun Rua to pick up the knockout victory.
» UFC 134 Main Card - Antonio Nogueira vs. Brendan Schaub
- Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira +175
- Brendan "The Hybrid" Schaub -210
Brendan Schaub only has 1 career loss, which came against Roy Nelson a couple years ago. Schaub has now won 4 fights in a row against Gormley, Tuchscherer, Gonzaga and Filipovic. Brendan is moving up the rankings in the UFC and this is a big stepping stone for him. If he can beat Nogueira he should start getting to fight against better opponents. Nogueira is always a threat to submit his opponents, but Schaub has superb takedown defence and I can't see Nogueira even having a chance to submit him, which is why I'm betting on Brendan Schaub to win at -210 this weekend at UFC 134.
» UFC 134 Main Card - Ross Pearson vs. Edson Barboza
Ross Pearson and Edson Barboza will be meeting at UFC 134 this weekend and it should be an awesome fight. Edson is 8-0 so far in his MMA career including 5 1st round victories. However, he hasn't really fought that tough of competition yet and he's going to have his hands full with Ross Pearson. Ross has stepped up in competition his last few fights and he has gone 2-1 with wins over Spencer Fisher and Dennis Siver. This fight is a lot closer than the bookies are making it seem and I like Pearson to pull off the upset if he can take the fight to the ground.
» UFC 134 Main Card - Stanislav Nedkov vs. Luiz Cane
There are still no odds posted on this fight, but it should be a pretty good fight between two great MMA fighters. I like Stanislav to win this fight and move to 12-0 in his professional MMA career although you can't count the 11-2 Luiz Cane out of this fight.
