» 2011 US Open Men's Odds & Predictions
These are the top 5 tennis players right now based on the odds to win the 2011 US Open. Djokovic just retired in his last match due to a shoulder injury, but he's said that he'll be ready for the US Open. At +165 I really don't see value in betting Novak and I think there are better candidates to win the 2011 US Open men's division. Mardy Fish is sitting at +3000 right now and is playing with confidence after winning the US Open Series Title this year.
Juan Martin Del Potro is +1750 and he actually won the US Open back in 2009 against Federer. Gail Monfils is +12500 right now and has had a great season. I also like the fact that Monfils always finds a way to make it deep in the US Open. If Monfils can pick-up a couple key victories during the tournament there is no reason he can't win. My favourite to win the 2011 US Open in the men's division is Nadal at +475.
Nadal won the US Open last year, so he has the experience to win this massive Grand Slam again this year. I think he'll also be motivated by the fact that Novak is going to be playing with an injured shoulder. The injury might not be a problem for Novak next week in the 2011 US Open, but I don't want to bet on him to win at +165 when there is any doubt about his form.
- My Predictions - Rafael Nadal +475 & Mardy Fish +3000

» 2011 US Open Women's Odds & Predictions
Normally we'd see a lot of bettors placing wagers on Kim Clijsters to win the US Open, as she has won the last two years. The only problem is that Kim won't be playing in the 2011 US Open due to an injury. This will open up the women's division and allow an underdog to possibly steal the title from the favoured Serena Williams. I really think that Serena should be favoured, but at +165 odds I won't be betting on her to win the US Open.
Sharapova should make a deep run in the US Open this year and could easily win the event. Maria finished 2nd at Wimbledon this year and just won a recent event in Cincinnati. She has played well all year and at +750 odds I really like her. Petra is at +1000 odds right now to win the US Open and she's coming off a victory at Wimbledon. I don't like Petra in the US Open and think a lot of people will lose money betting on her in NYC.
Caroline Wozniacki is my top sleeper at +1800 in the US Open. She hasn't won the US Open, but she did finish in 2nd place and also lost in the semi-finals of the US Open. Caroline always seems to finish near the top of the US Open, but she hasn't won and I think her time might be this year. At +1800 odds I don't mind throwing a small bet on Caroline to win the event, as she's playing well and could beat any of the women in the US Open this year.
- My Predictions - Maria Sharapova +750 & Caroline Wozniacki +1800
